"Sea No Evil"

Bought in the late fall of 2004 in Plevna, Ontario, despite its aging state, we could see the potential of making this an amazing little boat for us to enjoy at some point in the future.

During:

Project begins August 5th, 2005:

Assessing the purchase, remove hardware & general clean up:

Entire new hull was constructed using original boat for pattern. New frames, battens, keel and stem were created.
3/4" marine ply frames; mahogany batten, stem & keel:

Hull is constructed out of marine ply. Entire hull will be 3/8" thick as was original. Above water line the sides will be varnished mahogany planked; bottom with West System epoxy, inside and out.

beginning to construct deck frames & seats...

Jan. 2006...

Subdecking begins... using 3/16" marine ply...

1/4" mahogany covering boards & king planks go on next

Decking is 1 3/4" x 1/4" bevelled edged strips that go inside the covering boards.

In keeping with Century's 2 tone designs of the day, the exterior hull was stained with Goudy "Brandy", and the blonde V-groove is Min-Wax pickling stain, with some yellow pigment added. After that stain dried, a coat of Min-Wax "Golden Oak" was applied.

Epiphane varnishing begins - probably will end up with 9 coats of varnish....

Out of the shop she goes:

"Sea No Evil" is going to be put away now until spring, while work on Petrosoniak's Shepherd begins...

... more to follow in Summer of 2007 ...

May 1st, 2007...

The stain wasn't quite the bright yellow we were trying to attain, so an Interlux yellow enamel was used... tinting it to match the exact colour of the upholstery.
