"One Boat at a Time"
1952, 13 1/2 ft. Century Imperial "Sea no Evil"
BOAT HISTORY
Bought in the late fall of 2004 in Plevna, Ontario, despite its aging state, we could see the potential of making this an amazing little boat for us to enjoy at some point in the future.
Once the project actually began, we soon realized there wasn't much salvageable. It basically served as a 'pattern' boat - none of the original wood was used in the rebuild, except for a few bow frames.
Another standout feature of this project is the motor itself.
What appears to be a classic 35 hp Johnson is, in fact, a 1989 50 hp Evinrude cleverly disguised beneath a custom-built shroud.
John created the shroud by molding it from an original 35 Johnson cover, then carefully modifying the shape to fit the Evinrude. Several layers of 6 oz epoxy were applied inside the mold to form a durable, seamless shell. The finishing touch was a flawless match of Johnson’s signature paint and decals, making the transformation virtually undetectable.
To our knowledge, this kind of motor modification is a true first—an innovative blend of craftsmanship, creativity, and technical expertise.
