"One Boat at a Time"
1928, 16 ft Peterborough Speedabout, "Buzz"
BOAT HISTORY
This is a rare little boat was built by Peterborough Boats in 1928. The bottom of the boat is concave, giving it more lift, and hopefully a bit more speed. A unique experimental design. Construction of the boat is sawn frames with double planked bottom and sides, all nailed and clenched with copper nails.
A regular customer of ours asked to have it restored with new frames, new transom, new decks and coamings. Seat hardware is similar to a carriage design, contributing to its uniqueness.
It came into the shop in very rough condition, but the end result was a pretty spectacular little boat, shown here at the Toronto Boat Show - Antique Boats Exhibit in 2014. Only 3 of these boats are still known to exist.
